… Like go on a spontaneous trip to Las Vegas!!

This past weekend Geo, Charles, Julz from Cypher City Kings, and myself decided to drive out all the way to Sin City to enter a bboy competition.

Not this one.

Ever since our trip out to Florida for Outbreak 7, Geo and I have been particularly keen on traveling to jams outside of California for inspiration and new experiences. And I’m really glad I decided to go, despite some minor miscommunication…

Fun Fact: Geo is uncomfortable driving long distances at night time due to a traumatic experience that almost cost him and Chuck their lives… Which resulted in staying a couple nights in Vegas so that we could rest and take off in the morning. Moral of the story: DRIVE SAFE, and save money on lodging!!

Either way, it was great to take a break from Cali’s fickle weather (80 degrees in January!?!?) and celebrate Full Force Crew‘s 17th Anniversary with some battling, cyphering, and a LOT of freestyle rapping. Big shout out to Full Force, Jabbawockeez, Battle Born, Knucklehead Zoo, the Calamities, and everybody else that made us feel like family all the way out in Las Vegas.

Also, a big shout out to Julz for battling with me… This man taught me how to bboy and has been not only a mentor but a great friend to me, and the crew as well. He’s definitely a very positive influence in my life and I hope he continues to be.

Speaking of freezing, Charles and Chris saw snow for the first time (in a long time?) while we were in Jersey!!

Leave it to Instant Noodles to come up with such a sadistic game on a whim…

Anyway, here’s a long overdue, quick recap of my first ever East Coast experience:

Aside from the snowday and performances, I got a chance to see New York City for the first time ever!! I’d say it was very reminiscent of our hometown Taiwan — definitely refreshing to be in a large, urban environment again, even though we spent a good hour or two shopping at Uniqlo.

Also, I finally got to taste the legendary chicken & rice from the Halal Carts!! This place is no joke… If you’re ever in the NYC, yelp this bad boy and grab a bowl for only $6!!

White sauce is the TRUTH!!

I’m truly missing the East Coast vibe! Can’t wait to go back and visit! Big thanks to Ben and Krystal of FoundAsians for their hospitality… A couple of the most genuine people I’ve ever had the honor of meeting!

I am terribly sorry that I sort of went missing ever since the release of the In Honor of Stanley Kuo video. Ever since I arrived in Taiwan things just got hectic and I got lost in all the mess and just don’t know when was the appropriate time.

Stanley passed away peacefully on November 14th 2011 at 7:12 am.

I said everything I wanted to say to him and him to me as well. Once I arrived in Taiwan, his condition worsened in a matter of days. He was still conscious for the first couple of days and luckily we were able to converse and get things off our chest and made sure things will be taken care of. Couple days later, Stanley lost responsiveness. Then on the 14th he passed away peacefully.

A big sincere THANK YOU for everyone that helped/offered to help and for those who share the same passion as I do, for those who are going through what I went through, and for those who shared your personal stories with cancer.

Be grateful of everything and be grateful of your loved ones, family, and friends not just on thanks giving but every single day. Don’t take anything for granted, and if there’s one thing I have learned from Stanley, it’s to live passionately with no regrets.

Thank you everyone again…and thank you Stanley. I love you.

"Join us in a cause that will be bigger than life"

Instant Noodles member Christopher Kuo shares his thoughts and ambitions as his brother Stanley continues the battle against Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.

The disease is, unfortunately, fatal. With the short amount of time left, Chris and his family’s only wish is to preserve Stanley’s name and to reach out to those who share similar experiences with cancerous diseases.

The Stanley Project, as it is known for now, seeks to raise funds for cancer research, as well as to provide both financial and — more importantly — emotional support for affected families.

Mike chillin' with a three-legged gator!

Just got back from performing for the Gators @ University of Florida for their Asian Kaleidoscope Month!

This trip, despite being business related, was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a while. The crew was blessed to have an opportunity to enjoy the new yet simple things such as sights and food:

On top of that, we met amazing, talented individuals. Minh and his girlfriend Chin Chin Hao, to name a few, were kind enough to house us and drive us around all weekend. We even got to enjoy a live performance by Kina Grannis herself!!
